Getting Started

Looperoni is a browser-based drum machine and beat maker. To get started:

  • Create a free account at studio.looperoni.com
  • Click on any grid square to place a drum hit
  • Press the play button to hear your beat
  • Adjust the BPM slider to change tempo (60-200 BPM)

Using the Sequencer

The 16-step sequencer grid allows you to program beats across 5 instrument tracks:

  • Kick: Bass drum for foundation and groove
  • Snare: Backbeat and accent hits
  • Hi-Hat: Rhythmic texture and drive
  • Tom: Fills and melodic percussion
  • Bass: Melodic bassline with chord progressions

Click any cell in the grid to toggle a hit on or off. The orange highlight shows the current playback position.

Sound Design

Click on any instrument name (KICK, SNARE, etc.) to open the tuning modal:

  • Volume: Control the loudness of each instrument
  • Decay: Adjust how quickly the sound fades
  • Tone: Change the pitch and character
  • Special Parameters: Each instrument has unique controls (Punch, Snap, Metal, etc.)

Drag the orange knobs to adjust parameters in real-time. Use the "Test" button to preview your sound.

Musical Key & Bass Chords

The bass track features intelligent chord progressions:

  • Select your musical key (C through B) in the header
  • Click on bass grid cells to assign chord progressions (I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi, vii°)
  • Change keys and watch the bass chords automatically transpose
  • Bass chords follow music theory for harmonically pleasing progressions

Saving & Loading Presets

The Loop Library panel lets you manage your beats:

  • Factory Presets: Load pre-made beats like "Techno Drive" or "Hip Hop Vibe"
  • Save Current: Store your beat to the cloud with a custom name
  • Import: Load .rfpreset files from your computer
  • Export: Download your preset to share with others

All presets include your pattern, instrument settings, BPM, and bass chord progression.

Recording Audio

Add live recordings to your beats:

  • Click "+ ADD AUDIO TRACK" to create a new recording track
  • Click the microphone icon to arm the track for recording
  • Press play - recording starts automatically on the next loop
  • Use the volume knob to adjust track levels
  • Recordings automatically sync to your current BPM

Track Controls

Each track has individual controls:

  • Mute Button: Orange checkmark to enable/disable tracks
  • Volume Knob: Adjust the loudness of each track independently
  • Track Name: Click to open tuning modal (for drum tracks)
  • Delete: Remove audio tracks you no longer need
